How personal trainer check-ins should work

The worst check-in is a voice note at 11pm that you will not replay. The second worst is a 40-field form nobody finishes. The useful one is short, dated, and sitting next to the program.

Ask for the week, not a novel

Sleep. Weight if you use it. Photos on a schedule. How training felt. Anything sharp — knee, mood, travel. That is enough to write tomorrow.

One thread per client

Tarna keeps check-ins on the desk as a thread, not a spreadsheet column. You see the last note when you open the person.

A first reply waiting

When a check-in lands, a draft can be waiting. You tidy the sentence so it sounds like you. Nothing sends itself.

Questions

Should check-ins be daily?
Usually weekly, with a mid-week note only when something changed. Daily forms train people to lie.

Open a desk.

Five clients free. Studio is £49. Import a roster or start with one person and tomorrow’s session.
